Sound and Colour! Robson-Truong Cello and Piano duo recital March 22, 2024

In 2016, Fiona Robson played Friedrich Gulda's Concerto for Cello and Wind Orchestra with the London Concert Band.  Since completing her undergrad performance degree at McGill (2019) and her Master's at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris (2022), Fiona has been based in France.  But next week she will be performing in London with Raymond Truong (Western DMA, piano).  It should be an interesting, engaging show!

Sophia Tanaka, flute soloist March 3 LCB Concert Flight of Fancy

.

Sophia Tanaka is a grade 11 student attending H.B. Beal Secondary school. Since the age of four, she has enjoyed studying the flute and is currently under the guidance of Ingrid Crozman. Sophia has been recognized both provincially and nationally for her accomplishments through the Royal Conservatory of Music and recently completed her level 8 flute exam. Over the years as a competitor in the London Kiwanis Music Festival, she has had many first-place finishes, won both the junior and intermediate trophies, and has been awarded several scholarships. In 2022, she placed 2nd in the provincial finals of the Ontario Music Festival.

Since 2021, Sophia has been the principal flutist of the London Youth Symphony where she thoroughly enjoys playing with her peers. As a winner of the LYS concerto competition in 2022, she was given the amazing opportunity to perform a solo with the orchestra under the direction of Len Ingrao. That year she was also selected to play in the pit orchestra for the 2022 Grand Theatre High School Project’s production of Into the Woods.

Sophia feels very honoured to be invited to perform with the London Concert Band, through the recommendation of Lynda Kennedy. Sophia is grateful to Ingrid Crozman, a phenomenal teacher who has supported and helped shape Sophia’s musicality and development over the years.
